Cousin of Tupac Shakur Releases New Book For His 50th Birthday

Tupac Shakur was a big influence on the African-American culture, amongst other leaders. What inspired you to write a full book about him ?

I am Tupac’s Cousin and this is one way that I am honoring him for his 50th.  I want to ensure that the full impact of his influence is always felt.

While doing your research on him, what are some important things and ways he influenced the culture that most people may not know about?

I feel that Tupac continues to inspire people across generations.  Tupac spent a lot of time mentoring young people and those were the brains that he wanted to spark. He was a visionary

What has been one of the most challenging things throughout your writing process ?

One of the most challenging things is wanting the finished product to be the best possible.  I can be very critical of myself.

Who are some of your literary inspirations and why ?

Khalil Gibran- his poems and writings mirror what’s in my soul.  He has written something for every possible occasion and/or mood.

Maya Angelou- her words are so uplifting and she has helped to define history.

Zora Neale Hurston- The Harlem Renaissance is one of my favorite time periods and this influenced her work heavily.  I can feel her passion thru her work.

Langston Hughes- the same feelings that I have about Zora from a male perspective, who was so proud to be Black.

What other projects are you working on along with your book?
I’m preparing to start a podcast and working on my autobiography as well
