North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University just received a large anonymous donation of $20 million after the new Chancellor was recently announced. This donation came with conditions on how it should be spent.
The donator said that, “$15 million for scholarships, $2 million to establish endowed professorships in artificial intelligence, $2 million for international opportunities, $1 million to promote opportunities for campus communities to interact with current thought leaders through the ongoing Chancellor’s Speaker Series.”
This donation took both the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor by surprise and they are grateful for the donation. Kenneth E. Sigmon (Vice Chancellor of University Advancement) said, “This generous support will provide crucial resources to our students, faculty, and programs, ensuring that N.C. A&T continues to thrive as a leading institution for higher learning and innovation.”
As the trend of hefty donations towards HBCUs continues, it shows that there is hope for HBCUs to be properly funded.
