In a statement, Savannah State University has announced major plans to distribute free hand sanitizer to every Historically Black College or University in the country. The institution’s administration says the hand sanitizer will be enough to cover the entire student population in schools.
Made possible by an alumni donation to the school, the move is intended to help combat the ongoing CoronaVirus pandemic.
Cyrus Jackson, the owner of Indigo Child LLC, the producer of Dr. Hobbs Sanitizer, made the donation valued at $1.5 million.
“With Mr. Jackson’s contribution, we can show the collective HBCU family how much the SSU Tigers care for our community,” explained Shalonda Mullgrav, DBA, interim dean of the College of Business Administration, “We want our COBA students to graduate with the idea that giving something back to the community is an important outcome, and that doing so will prepare them to be good citizens in work and life.”
