Summer and Fall 2020 Semester Success Tips

For everyone starting classes during the Fall 2020 semester, get ready as we are zeroing in on 100 days before the Fall semester begins. Here are some tips to get ready for the Fall semester:

1)Make sure you class schedule is exactly the way you want it! Be sure to space them out if you would like to have study, lunch or friend breaks between classes. Having classes back to back can sometimes be difficult, especially if you’re next class has an exam or it’s on the other side of campus.

Class schedules can be switched up to the drop/add deadline during the first week of the semester, so you can change you’re schedule as many times as you like before the deadline.

2) Syllabus usually come out a few days – a week before classes start. Once you receive a class syllabus, throughly read over it and keep track of some things you need more clarification on. Reach out to your professor with questions you have about the syllabus as soon as you can, so you can both be on the same page before classes start.

3) Always keep your Professor in the loop of anything going on in your life that may affect your grade for the class. It’s best to schedule office hours VS talking about it over phone or email, so there is no risks of violating the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 – FERPA.

4) Keep your academic advisor in the loop of how your grades are looking in your classes. They will be able to point you in the right direction to find campus resources that can help you get your grade back up in the class or keep your high grade in the class. After all, they’re there to help, so let them!
