Beyoncé Donates $100K to Texas Southern’s Ocean of Soul, Continues Her Legacy of Giving Back

Beyoncé may be taking her Cowboy Carter Tour around the world, but she’s making sure to keep pouring love and serious support back into her home state of Texas.

The global superstar just donated $100,000 to Texas Southern University’s marching band, the Ocean of Soul, which recently performed alongside her. The generous gift, made through her BeyGOOD Foundation, will open new doors for TSU students by funding scholarships and enhancing university programs with much-needed resources.

Texas Southern University’s president couldn’t hide his gratitude, sharing:

“Thank you, Beyoncé and BeyGOOD, for this significant gift that will empower our student musicians in the TSU Ocean of Soul and elevate their form of artistic expression!”

This is far from Beyoncé’s first time giving back to HBCUs. Over the years, she’s donated to more than 20 historically Black colleges and universities, most recently highlighted by her “Beyoncé Bowl” halftime performance, in which the “Ocean of Soul” was featured and performed in.

This diva doesn’t play when it comes to investing in her community. With each donation, she’s not just performing on stage; she’s making sure the next generation of artists and scholars has the tools they need to shine too.
