Clay James Joins Kappa Alpha Psi Brothers for “We The Nupes Remix” Video

The Divine Nine and HBCU communities are buzzing with excitement following the official release of the “We The Nupes (Remix)” music video, a powerful celebration of Kappa Alpha Psi brotherhood and musical unity. Spearheaded by Houston-based hip hop artist and Kappa Alpha Psi member PA The Writer, the remix is a bold continuation of a track that initially made waves in late 2023.

The original version of “We The Nupes” quickly went viral, amassing over 250,000 streams and countless video reactions across social media. With such a strong response from Greekdom and HBCUs nationwide, PA The Writer saw an opportunity to elevate the song even further—this time, by bringing more members of the Kappa brotherhood into the spotlight.

The “We The Nupes Remix” features an impressive lineup of Kappa Alpha Psi talent from across the country, including Larry Jr, Dawn Mula, Abu Da Don, Ricardo P, Outta Space, and Clay James—an addition that’s helped boost the remix’s reach far beyond its original audience.

Atlanta rising star Clay James, a proud Nupe himself, has long been making a name for himself in the music industry. While a student at Georgia State University, he was mentored by legendary Outkast member Big Boi and later signed his first record deal under Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle Records imprint. When Clay caught wind that PA was searching for more Kappas to join the remix, he reached out—and the rest is history.

Clips of Clay James recording his verse quickly began circulating on Instagram and Facebook, helping build anticipation and excitement around the remix. The final music video was shot in multiple iconic locations—Houston, Harlem, and Morris Brown College in Atlanta—bringing together the culture, the legacy, and the charisma of Kappa Alpha Psi across the map.

The video officially dropped on YouTube yesterday and is slated to premiere soon on BET Jams, continuing its momentum with major mainstream visibility.

Fans can also catch PA The Writer and Clay James performing their verses live at this year’s AGP Fest, presented by Atlanta Greek Picnic, on July 26th at the Atlantic Station Pinnacle Lot. Tickets are on sale now.
