It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with a twist. Norfolk State University alum Phil Thornton is bringing some holiday heat to the big screen with the upcoming release of “Unexpected Christmas,” a new comedy-drama set to premiere in theaters nationwide on November 7.
Produced under 3 Diamonds Films, the movie stars comedian and actor Lil Rel Howery alongside actress and lifestyle icon Tabitha Brown. The story, written by Cassandra Mann and directed by Michael Vaughn Hernandez, explores the complexities of family during the holiday season.
Joining Thornton on the production team are Trell Woodberry and Perri Camper, with executive producers including Howery, Brown, and Norman Gyamfi. The film will be distributed by 3 Diamonds Films and Eammon Films.
“We’re proud to bring Unexpected Christmas to audiences this November a true labor of love from our amazing cast and crew,” said Thornton.
Thornton’s journey to Hollywood success began right here at Norfolk State University, where he graduated in 2003 with a degree in marketing and business. A proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, and has long credited the university with helping shape his path as an executive and creative force in both music and television.
With Unexpected Christmas, Thornton adds another major credit to his growing body of work and brings a touch of Spartan pride to the holiday season.
