Florida A&M University shuts down a Democratic organization after removal of Political Relations Director

On August 31st, Florida A&M University sent a Cease and Desist letter to an upcoming organization called “FAMU Students for Harris” after the university’s recent removal of their Political Relations Director. Many students, especially the students that were part of their executive board have expressed their disapproval as well as questioning the Interim President, Timothy Beard’s motive.

According to a post that was released by FAMU Students for Harris it states that, “Due to that letter (Cease & Desist) we will no longer be using the FAMU name nor be able to have this organization on campus.”

This has led to many individual research into Interim President Timothy Beard and has discovered that the Interim President has been a previous Republican donor.

Due to this information being uncovered many believe that Timothy Beard sent the Cease and Desist letter to the organization under the guise of political bias. At this time there has not been a new director that was hired or any sign of a pending candidate.

Due to this development this can eventually lead to the shut down of the other political organizations on campus as well as can start the censorship of students voices and political beliefs.

This event also led to the Leon County Students for Harris-Walz to make a statement about this matter, expressing its disappointment within the University.

As the Democratic Party continues to gain more support with their new Presidential candidate, the Republican party has continued to maintain their lead in the Florida polls by 6%.

As this election continues to heat up throughout the country many are anxiously waiting for the upcoming presidential debate, if you haven’t already you can register to vote for this election by October 7th.
