Singer Sevyn Streeter Enrolls at an HBCU, Continuing Her Family Legacy

Singer-songwriter Sevyn Streeter is stepping into a brand-new chapter, and this time, it’s in the classroom.

The “It Won’t Stop” hitmaker, known for collaborations with Chris Brown and Ariana Grande, revealed via Instagram that she is officially enrolled at an HBCU, proudly announcing that she’s now a Wildcat at Bethune-Cookman University.

A third-generation HBCU student, Sevyn shared heartfelt excitement about continuing her family’s legacy.

“All my life I’ve been surrounded by #HBCU love, and growing up in FLORIDA, half of my family either attended #FAMU or #BCU (Sunday dinners were lit 😂 IYKYK)… & all my life I’ve admired them & dreamt of attending one myself! Since I was a little girl, my mother, my grandmother Sallie Streeter & so many of my cousins have forever been loud & proud of their love & experience at ‘BETHUNE COOKMAN UNIVERSITY’ — and now I get to join my family’s legacy through @bcuglobal (their online degree program 🖥️).”

Though she’s no stranger to the campus, having taught master classes, performed at homecomings, and judged talent shows, this season looks a little different. Instead of taking the stage, Sevyn will be hitting the books and pursuing her educational goals.

“Education & adding more tools to my tool-belt is what gets me goiiiin!!!!” she added. “To all of my fellow HBCU students & alumni, thank you so much for inspiring me… HAAIIIL WILDCATS, LETS GOOOOO!”

According to Bethune-Cookman University, Sevyn is also making history as the first student enrolled in the school’s online global degree program. The platform allows her to continue touring and working from anywhere in the world while staying fully committed to her studies.
