Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Welcomes New Honorary Members at 57th National Convention

During its 57th National Convention, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly announced the induction of eight exceptional women as Honorary Members, celebrating their outstanding contributions to society. These trailblazing women embody the Sorority’s core values of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action, and their legacies align with Delta’s century-long commitment to uplifting communities.

The honorary member induction ceremony was led by Elsie Cooke-Holmes, International President and Chair of the National Board of Directors, in a momentous celebration of Black excellence, leadership, and service.

Donna Brazile
A veteran political strategist, author, and commentator, Donna Brazile made history as the first African American woman to manage a major presidential campaign (Al Gore, 2000). She has served twice as interim Chair of the Democratic National Committee and is a vocal advocate for voting rights and civic engagement.

Danielle Brooks
Acclaimed actress and singer Danielle Brooks is best known for her role as Taystee in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black and her Tony-nominated performance as Sofia in The Color Purple on Broadway. 

Dana “Queen Latifah” Owens
An award-winning rapper, singer, actress, and producer, Queen Latifah is a trailblazer in entertainment. She broke barriers for women in hip-hop and has earned a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Golden Globe. Latifah is also a passionate advocate for health equity, racial justice, and community development.

Janice Bryant Howroyd
The founder and CEO of ACT-1 Group, Janice Bryant Howroyd, is the first Black woman to own and operate a billion-dollar business in the U.S. She is a globally respected entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Jackie Joyner-Kersee
Widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a six-time Olympic medalist in track and field. Off the track, she champions youth development, education, and health through the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation.

Fawn Weaver
Entrepreneur and author Fawn Weaver is the CEO and founder of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the fastest-growing Black-owned spirit brand in history.

Toni Townes-Whitley

 A leader in the tech industry, Toni Townes-Whitley has served as President of U.S. Regulated Industries at Microsoft and later became CEO of SAIC. She is known for her efforts in advancing digital transformation, ethical AI, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the corporate world.

Swin Cash
A former WNBA star, Olympic gold medalist, and current executive for the New Orleans Pelicans, Swin Cash is a powerhouse in both sports and leadership. 

These women exemplify the very best in their respective fields and continue to pave the way for future generations. With their induction, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. confirms its dedication to uplifting women who lead.
