The 3rd Annual HBCU Honors, presented by BET, showcased a night of culture, legacy, and Black excellence.
Hosted by Emmy-nominated actress and comedian Kym Whitley (Fisk University).
This year’s celebration honored three HBCU icons whose influence continues to shape generations: Pastor Shirley Caesar (North Carolina Central University), recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award; David Banner (Southern University and A&M College), honored with the Cultural Impact Award; and powerhouse entrepreneur Janice Bryant Howroyd(North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University), who was presented with the Visionary Founder Award.
Performances from Jekalyn Carr, Raheem DeVaughn, and MAJOR elevated the night.
The Morgan State University Choir also took center stage, adding to the night’s homecoming vibe.
Presenters Lance Gross, Shaun Robinson, and Fawn Weaver guided the tributes and storytelling that highlighted each honoree’s imprint on culture, business, and community.
This year, the HBCU honors launched the Rising Stars competition that highlighted the talent of HBCU singers. This competition invited singers to share their talent for a chance to perform during the HBCU Honors Television Special, airing on BET and BET Her.
