Travis Scott Features HBCUs In New Music Video “4×4”

Travis Scott, a 10-time Grammy nominee, recently spotlighted Prairie View A&M University marching band, The Marching Storm, in his latest track, “4×4.” The music video, which dropped early Friday, has already amassed over 5.2 million views. The song also incorporates a sample from Tennessee State University’s Aristocrat of Bands, with their melodies heard throughout the track.

The rapper’s latest music video for his track “4×4” opens with a cinematic movie style within the first few seconds, the camera zooms in on a front-and-center member of Prairie View A&M University’s Marching Storm band, setting the tone for the video.

Directed by Gabriel Moses, the London-based filmmaker and photographer known for his work with artists like Pharrell and Tems, merging Scott’s signature style with the traditions of HBCU marching bands.

This video introduces a new wave of recognition for these institutions, it’s far from the first time The Marching Storm has teamed up with notable artists.

Back in 2004, the band made history when they joined R&B group Destiny’s Child for the halftime show during the Thanksgiving Classic.

Travis Scott’s “4×4” has been described as the start of a new era in his career and he is bringing HBCUs along for the ride.
