HBCU excellence was on full display at CultureCon 2025, where graduates from some of the nation’s most historic black institutions took center stage to share their journeys, insights, and creative power.
Among the standout voices were Howard University alum Taraji P. Henson, Delaware State University graduate Loren Lorosa, and North Carolina Central University’s own Brian McIntosh, each representing the legacy of Black education and innovation with pride.
Golden Globe-winning actress Taraji P. Henson, known for her roles in Hidden Figures and Empire, spoke passionately about the power of intuition and faith in her creative decision-making process.
“Listen to your instinct. Your instinct is that of God’s voice,” she told attendees. “You gotta train yourself to hear that voice when there’s noise.”
Loren Lorosa, a proud DSU alum and media personality, brought things full circle as she hit the CultureCon floor interviewing HBCU attendees, including rapper 2 Chainz, capturing conversations that highlighted the cultural impact of the festival.

Meanwhile, Brian McIntosh of North Carolina Central University lent his voice to the event as a host and moderator. His panel with actor Morris Chestnut explored what it takes to sustain creativity and purpose in an ever-evolving industry.
From career growth to personal purpose, the weekend’s conversations reflected the brilliance of HBCU talent shaping culture on and off the screen. Founded by Imani Ellis, CultureCon has become one of the most influential gatherings for creatives, entrepreneurs, and storytellers nationwide, and this year, HBCU alumni made sure their light shone brighter than ever.
